Field Spaniel

I spent 2 years searching for the right breed of dog. I ended up choosing the Field Spaniel because I wanted an athletic dog of moderate build that would be conducive to city life.

Finding the right dog takes time and I was prepared to wait. After being on a waiting list for about 6 months, it seemed as though the right dog fell into my lap. I brought home Arthur, BISS GCh. Killara’s Riders On The Storm, in March of 2007.

Arthur was the mellow boy in the litter who enjoyed his alone time. It took him little to no time to get used to fast pace of city life.

Wirehaired Pointing Griffon

Even though I thoroughly love the Field Spaniel, I wanted to diversify our household with a different breed. Eli, Ch. Stonepoint's Heart Of Gold made the long trip from Reno, Nevada in February of 2009. I chose the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon because of their excellent health history, boisterous personality and minimal grooming requirements. However, the Griff requires a lot of exercise and is not for most city people.

Show World

Arthur finished his championship at 18 months with 3 majors and a Best Puppy in Sweepstakes. He started out his career as a special in early 2009 and has maintained a spot in the top ten. Eli earned his championship on March 12, 2011. Both of his majors were obtained by going Best of Breed over specials.

April 2010 Arthur wins Best In Specialty Show at the Fox River Field Spaniel Club Specialty in Ixonia, WI.

Arthur earned an Award of Merit during his first trip to Westminster at just 3 years old! Here is Grace and Arthur after his big win.

On 8/1/10 Arthur earns his Grand Championship title, the fifth field spaniel in breed history to do so. Arthur finished 2010 as the #1 Field Spaniel Dog in breed standings and finished 2011 as the #1 Field Spaniel Dog all systems.

Eli is being selectively shown as a special in 2012. Here is Eli at 20 months of age owner/handled at the prestigious Morris & Essex show in October of 2010.

HUNTING

Our boys were bred to hunt. However, I am not an avid hunter so we do not train regularly. Both dogs were exposed to birds and guns since they were puppies. Both express interest in birds and other game.
